ACM30321 Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care course is intended for people interested in pursuing a career as a Zoo/wildlife keeper in the captive animal industry. Students will gain an understanding of day-to-day functions of Wildlife Keepers. Keepers are required to interact with the public, offering visitors educational information and helping to ensure their visit to the Zoo is a positive experience. Delivery of Course

ACM30321 Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care is delivered through approximately 78 week course of practical experience and theory. For those currently working in the industry it can also be delivered by on-the-job training, off-the-job training and by the ‘self paced’ method of learning which allows you greater flexibility in choosing the times you study and the time it takes you to complete the course.

To achieve a Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care, 16 units must be completed:

    • 12 Core units
    • 4 Elective units
      • at least 2 from the electives listed below in Group A
      • up to 2 from any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course

Assessment Strategy

Assessment in this course will be competency based, in that the student will be required to demonstrate competency in a range of tasks. The assessment coding which will apply is either C or NYC, where C is Competent and NYC is Not Yet Competent. Assessment procedures are transparent and address the key assessment principles of being valid, reliable, flexible, fair and cost effective. Assessment strategies encompass a range of techniques, which include, but are not limited to the use of:

  • Direct observation of performance
  • Simulations of workplace activities
  • Oral questioning
  • Work portfolios
  • Practical exercises
  • Projects/assignments

Entry Requirements

There is no age limit for ACM30321 Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care, but applicants should have finished school education. Mature age and students with prior learning and experience should also apply.

Course Fees (without funding)

Course cost is $7,990 per student. A $500 confirmation deposit is required (on acceptance of enrolment). Careers Training Centre will accept advance payments of no more than $1000 from each individual student prior to the commencement of the course. This course is approved for Centrelink student payments. Please contact Centrelink for any assistance.
