Careers Training Centre
HISTORY

Continuing its commitment to ensuring staff and the greater tourism industry as a whole have access to and partake of relevant, quality and flexible training, The CaPTA Group established the Careers Training Centre (CTC) in 2008. CTC was partnered with Career Training Institute of Australia (CTIA), until 2012 when CTC registered as an Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Formal training, along with practical on-the-job work experience, provides employees with a nationally recognised qualification in tourism, hospitality at a Certificate II to Diploma level, and Certificate III in Captive Animals.

Training and educational programs throughout the group (both internal and external) have been a priority since 2005 to improve the skill level of people employed in tourism, boosting our local economy as well as informing staff and those not familiar with the tourism industry of the career opportunities and pathways available in the industry itself.

Community Support

COUCH (Committee for Oncology Unit at Cairns Hospital) is a local charity which was started by Charles and Pip Woodward in 2006 and is dedicated to helping people affected by cancer. The charity was instrumental in establishing the Liz Plummer Cancer Care Centre and providing radiation oncology services to Cairns. The focus now is building a Cancer Help & Wellness Centre on land donated by the Woodward family.

Further support of the local community is provided by CaPTA through regular participation in community fundraisers, providing donations to various organisations such as the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal, Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal and Tropical Animal Rehabilitation Centre (TARC). Our staff members are encouraged to participate in activities that support the community so that we can make a positive difference to where we live and work.
