Careers Training Centre provides nationally accredited training in Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care, which includes a work placement opportunity at one of the four CaPTA Group Parks, other zoos in the Cairns region, or remote learning options across Australia. Our training programs are designed to cater to specific needs, and we offer the flexibility to customise courses as required. Short courses can be extracted from the certificate course subjects, allowing students to learn about specific topics of interest. At Careers Training Centre, we provide the option to take just one unit or multiple units from Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care program. Career Paths

This course is the key pathway qualification into becoming a wildlife keeper.

Usual day to day functions of keepers can include:

  • Preparing animal diets
  • Preparing food and feeding animals
  • Monitoring and maintaining animal health
  • Capturing, restraining and assisting in moving animals (with support)
  • Monitoring reproduction and breeding programs
  • Maintaining animal exhibits
  • Monitoring behavioural needs
  • Implementing improved husbandry
  • Assisting animals in collection management

Wildlife keepers are crucial to passing on conservation messages within their interactions with guests via educational experiences.

Careers Training Centre offers the ability to suit courses to specific training needs. Short courses can be pulled from the certificate course subjects so you can learn about a specific topic. Any unit Careers Training Centre offers in the Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care can be undertaken in a short course. You may take just one unit or a multiple of units.
